அப்போஸ்தலர் 27:24
பவுலே, பயப்படாதே, நீ இராயனுக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கவேண்டும். இதோ, உன்னுடனேகூட யாத்திரைபண்ணுகிற யாவரையும் தேவன் உனக்குத் தயவுபண்ணினார் என்றான்.

 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). God has told us over 100 times in His Word not to be afraid. He tells us not to fear because He is in control. He is our refuge and strength.

Fear is a powerful emotion -- it can grip us with an immobilizing terror (Dreams). It can keep us from succeeding in life. Fear wants to steal your joy, take your courage and leave you cold, naked and trembling.

God went through the wilderness with them, He will with us – “Fear Not” He overcame their enemies and He will overcome ours – “Fear Not” He delivered them from captivity and He will deliver us – “Fear Not”. Romans 8:31, “If God is for us then who can be against us?”

 

Don’t fear of your weakness

“The apostle Paul did not hide his flaws, but made them an occasion to help others fight for holiness and joy.”

I speak as to reasonable people; judge for yourselves what I say. (1 Corinthians 10:15)

There are some things in [his letters] that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. (2 Peter 3:16)

 

Don’t fear of showing equal love, rebuking partiality even if it is from seniors

11 மேலும், பேதுரு அந்தியோகியாவுக்கு வந்தபோது, அவன்மேல் குற்றஞ்சுமந்ததினால், நான் முகமுகமாய் அவனோடே எதிர்த்தேன்.

12 எப்படியெனில், யாக்கோபினிடத்திலிருந்து சிலர் வருகிறதற்குமுன் அவன் புறஜாதியாருடனே சாப்பிட்டான்; அவர்கள் வந்தபோதோ, விருத்தசேதனமுள்ளவர்களுக்குப் பயந்து, விலகிப் பிரிந்தான்.

14 இப்படி அவர்கள் சுவிசேஷத்தின் சத்தியத்திற்கேற்றபடி சரியாய் நடவாததை நான் கண்டபோது, எல்லாருக்கும் முன்பாக நான் பேதுருவை நோக்கிச்சொன்னது என்னவென்றால்: யூதனாயிருக்கிற நீர் யூதர் முறைமையாக நடவாமல், புறஜாதியார் முறைமையாக நடந்துகொண்டிருக்க, புறஜாதியாரை யூதர்முறைமையாக நடக்கும்படி நீர் எப்படிக்கட்டாயம் பண்ணலாம்?

15 புறஜாதியாரில் பிறந்த பாவிகளாயிராமல், சுபாவத்தின்படி யூதராயிருக்கிற நாமும் இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவைப்பற்றும் விசுவாசத்தினாலேயன்றி, நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின் கிரியைகளினாலே மனுஷன் நீதிமானாக்கப்படுவதில்லையென்று அறிந்து, நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின் கிரியைகளினாலல்ல, கிறிஸ்துவைப்பற்றும் விசுவாசத்தினாலே நீதிமான்களாக்கப்படும்படிக்குக் கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவின்மேல் விசுவாசிகளானோம்.

16 நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின் கிரியைகளினாலே எந்த மனுஷனும் நீதிமானாக்கப்படுவதில்லையே.

17 கிறிஸ்துவுக்குள் நீதிமான்களாக்கப்படும்படி நாடுகிற நாமும் பாவிகளாகக் காணப்படுவோமானால், கிறிஸ்து பாவத்திற்குக் காரணரோ? அல்லவே.

18 நான் இடித்துப்போட்டவைகளையே நான் மறுபடியும் கட்டினால், பிரமாணத்தை மீறுகிறவனென்று காணப்படுவேன்.

19 தேவனுக்கென்று பிழைக்கும்படி நான் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தினாலே நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திற்கு மரித்தேனே.

20 கிறிஸ்துவுடனேகூடச் சிலுவையிலறையப்பட்டேன்; ஆயினும், பிழைத்திருக்கிறேன்; இனி நான் அல்ல, கிறிஸ்துவே எனக்குள் பிழைத்திருக்கிறார்; நான் இப்பொழுது மாம்சத்தில் பிழைத்திருக்கிறதோ, என்னில் அன்புகூர்ந்து எனக்காகத் தம்மைத்தாமே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்த தேவனுடைய குமாரனைப்பற்றும் விசுவாசத்தினாலே பிழைத்திருக்கிறேன்.

Don’t fear of threatening Poisonous Viper

As Paul gathered an armful of sticks and was laying them on the fire, a poisonous snake, driven out by the heat, bit him on the hand. - Acts 28:3

அப்போஸ்தலர் 28:3
பவுல் சில விறகுகளை வாரி அந்தநெருப்பின்மேல் போடுகையில், ஒரு விரியன்பாம்பு அனலுறைத்துப் புறப்பட்டு அவனுடைய கையைக் கவ்விக்கொண்டது.

Acts 28:4

விஷப்பூச்சி அவன் கையிலே தொங்குகிறதை அந்நியராகிய அந்தத் தீவார் கண்டபோது, இந்த மனுஷன் கொலைபாதகன், இதற்குச் சந்தேகமில்லை; இவன் சமுத்திரத்துக்குத் தப்பிவந்தும், பழியானது இவனைப் பிழைக்கவொட்டவில்லையென்று தங்களுக்குள்ளே சொல்லிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

Acts 28:6

அவனுக்கு வீக்கங்கண்டு, அல்லது அவன் சடிதியாய் விழுந்து சாவானென்று அவர்கள் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்; நெடுநேரமாய்ப் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தும், ஒரு சேதமும் அவனுக்கு வராததைக் கண்டபோது, வேறு சிந்தையாகி, இவன் தேவனென்று சொல்லிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

After the conflicts in Philippi and Ephesus, Paul receives threats of imprisonment (Acts 20:23, 21:11) and death (Acts 20:3, 23:12-14).
These threats are not idle, for indeed two attempts are actually made on his life (Acts 21:3; 23:21).

Don’t  fear to mission for the sake of Gospel

Don’t fear of Accusation and teasing
5. oUT OF mIND

அப்போஸ்தலர் 26:24
இவ்விதமாய் அவன் தனக்காக உத்தரவு சொல்லுகையில், பெஸ்து உரத்த சத்தமாய்: பவுலே, நீ பிதற்றுகிறாய், அதிகக்கல்வி உனக்குப் பயித்தியமுண்டாக்குகிறது என்றான்.

As he [Paul] was saying these things in his defense, Festus [the Roman governor] said with a loud voice, “Paul, you are out of your mind; your great learning is driving you out of your mind.” (Acts 26:24)

 “From him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen” (Romans 11:36).

Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything. (2 Timothy 2:7)

Don’t fear of authorities and powers

 3அப்பொழுது பவுல் அவனைப்பார்த்து: வெள்ளையடிக்கப்பட்ட சுவரே, தேவன் உம்மை அடிப்பார்; நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படி என்னை நியாயம் விசாரிக்கிறவராய் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிற நீர் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திற்கு விரோதமாய் என்னை அடிக்கச் சொல்லலாமா என்றான்.

Don’t fear of Tribulation

Paul is taken into custody by the Roman government (Acts 23:10) and a suit is brought against him (Acts 24:1-9), which, though false, ultimately leads to his execution. Given the episodes of conflict we have already explored, it is no surprise that following the ways of God’s kingdom leads to conflict with the oppressive ways of the world.

[I have served Christ] with far greater labors, far more imprisonments, with countless beatings, and often near death. Five times I received at the hands of the Jews the forty lashes less one. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I was adrift at sea; on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, danger from robbers, danger from my own people, danger from Gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brothers; in toil and hardship, through many a sleepless night, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure. And, apart from other things, there is the daily pressure on me of my anxiety for all the churches. (2 Corinthians 11:23–29)

28 இவை முதலானவைகளையல்லாமல், எல்லாச் சபைகளைக்குறித்தும் உண்டாயிருக்கிற கவலை என்னை நாள்தோறும் நெருக்குகிறது.

29 ஒருவன் பலவீனனானால் நானும் பலவீனனாகிறதில்லையோ? ஒருவன் இடறினால் என் மனம் எரியாதிருக்குமோ?

Yet through it all, Paul maintains an extraordinary courage. He continues his work (preaching) despite the threats, and even dares to preach to his captors, both Jewish (Acts 23:1-10) and Roman (Acts 24:21-26; 26:32; 28:30-31).

In the end, his courage proves decisive, not only for his work of preaching, but for saving the lives of hundreds of people in the midst of a shipwreck (Acts 27:22-23). His own words sum his attitude of courage as those around him shrink back in fear. “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus” (Acts 21:13).

The point, however, is not that Paul is a man of extraordinary courage, but that the Holy Spirit gives each of us the courage we need to do our work. Paul credits the Holy Spirit for keeping him going in the face of such adversity (Acts 20:22; 21:4; 23:11).

Paul celebrates God's triumph , the triumph he won through Christ. The changed atmosphere in the church at Corinth is a victory for God because it is a victory of the Spirit of Christ. In the Christian life there are no victories that are not God's.

1. No one is outside of God's reach. Never give up on anyone.

2. Our achievements do not define us

"If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless.

But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but th…

Acts 26:9-11 “I used to believe that I ought to do everything I could to oppose the very name of Jesus the Nazarene. Indeed, I did just that in Jerusalem. Authorized by the leading priests, I caused many believers there to be sent to prison. And I cast my vote against them when they were condemned to death. Many times I had them punished in the synagogues to get them to curse Jesus. I was so violently opposed to them that I even chased them down in foreign cities. [NLT]

Galatians 1:13 You know what I was like when I followed the Jewish religion—how I violently persecuted God’s church. I did my best to destroy it. [NLT]

 “Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel. And I will show him how much he must suffer for my name’s sake.”

You have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it. . . . [But now those who once feared me are saying,] “He who used to persecute us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.” And they glorified God because of me. (Galatians 1:13, 23–24)

2. Paul had an incomparably high view of God’s sovereignty in salvation mingled with heartfelt tears for those who were not saved.

“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills. (Romans 9:15–18)

3. Paul was utterly devoted to the calling that the risen Christ had given him, even though it cost him incomparable sufferings.

“I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” (Acts 20:24)

 

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness. (2 Timothy 4:7–8)

 

I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation. (Romans 15:20)

Paul knew he was not a perfect man, and he did not hide his flaws, but made them an occasion to help others fight for holiness and joy.

I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. . . . I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. . . . I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind. . . . Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! (Romans 7:15, 18, 22–25)
